The journal Medicinos teorija ir praktika (Theory and Practice in Medicine) is a peer-reviewed journal, published once per quarter in Lithuanian and English. It is being published since 1995. ISSN 1392-1312.
The publisher of journal is member of The Association of Lithuanian Serials.
The journal is addressed for a broad audience of health care professionals (physicians, nurses, odontologists, pharmacists, specialists of public health) – scientists, practitioners, lecturers, managers, students. The purpose of the journal is to promote achievements in medical theory, share clinical and practical experience within the medical communities of Lithuania, represent Lithuanian health sciences abroad, and reflect activities of the Vilnius Medical Society. Magazine publishes original research papers, analysis and discussion of clinical cases, scientific literature reviews, discussions on philosophical, ethical, social aspects of health care professions, papers on history of medicine, chronicle and other actual information.
Papers in Lithuanian and Russian are published with extensive summaries in English. All publications are available on the website of the magazine (www.mtp.lt). The journal Theory and Practice in Medicine is included into the register of The Central and Eastern European Scientific Journals Ranking System INDEX COPERNICUS (www.cisi.org).
The Editorial Board of the journal has accepted the Editorial Policy Statements and Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts (URM) Submitted to Biomedical Journals produced and updated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) as a basis of journal’s editorial policy, as indicated in corresponding websites: www.icmje.org and www.councilscienceeditors.org/services/draft_approved.cfm.
Since 2014 each article receives a digital object identifier (DOI) which ensures a constant open access.
